Maurice and Jane are delighted to be bringing their show ‘Sing a Song of Mourne’ to the Soma Festival in Castlewellan this year on Fri 20th July 7.30 pm.

Kevin Whelan, ‘”The Athens of the North”: The Enlightenment, France and Belfast.’ + songs from Jane Cassidy and Maurice Leyden.
Whelan is the Michael Smurfit Director of the Keogh Naughton Notre Dame Centre in Dublin. He has written or edited 15 books on Irish history and geography and helped transform our understanding of our decade of revolution in the 1790’s, and notably in his, Fellowship of Freedom; The United Irishmen and the 1798 Rebellion.
The Belfast town debates of 1792 – contesting the issues of equal citizenship.

Some pics taken by Chris Flack from our recent performance of the Mary Ann McCracken Show at the 1st Presbyterian Church, Rosemary St, Belfast, with Joe McHugh, as part of the Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival. A very special performance for us as Mary Ann lived in Rosemary Lane (now street) for many years.
Recording at Red Box Studios Belfast for Robert Cinnamond Project 29th May 2018
Maurice and Jane recorded 5 songs with Donal O’Connor, at Red Box Studios Belfast as part of an album of songs from the repertoire of the great Co. Antrim tradional singer, Robert Cinnamond, which will be released in the Autumn of 2018. The Co. Down traditional singer Roisin White is leading the project and will be featured on the album, along with Len Graham, Meabh Meir and Jennifer Orr.

Thomas Russell: The Man From God Knows Where Linen Hall Library Thurs 14th June 2018
Join Maurice Leyden and Jane Cassidy as they tell the story of this remarkable man, through eye-witness accounts of his life, extracts from Russell’s diary and traditional songs. This is part of a series of events marking the 230th anniversary of the founding of the Linen Hall Library in 1788, of which Thomas Russell was the very first Librarian.
