Mary Ann McCracken

29th May 2014 The story of early Belfast radical Mary Ann McCracken was brought to life last night in the historic surroundings of Central Library Belfast as part of the One City One Book Festival. Jane Cassidy and Maurice Leyden were joined on stage by poet Ruth Carr with a selection of her new work about Mary Ann.

4th September 2013 Maurice Leyden, Jane Cassidy and their daughter Anna Leyden present ‘Listen to the Lagan’ at the Island, Lisburn with the UK’s Canal Laureate Jo Bell, marking the 250th Anniversary of the Lagan navigation between Lisburn and Belfast.

Centenary of the Dublin Lockout

7th May 2013 Belfast City Hall and the ICTU commemorate the centenary of the Dublin Lockout of 1913 by commissioning Jane Cassidy and Maurice Leyden to tell the story of the 1913 Dublin Lockout and the Belfast Dockers’ Strike which preceded it through words and music, using the songs and ballads of the day to tap into the lives of the men, women and children of the slums, as they embarked on a David and Goliath struggle with their employers. Jane and Maurice are joined on stage by Barry Gleeson, Nollaig Casey and Rod McVey.
